</strong>Greg Bear comes to Longview, Washington with his most recent book, CITY AT THE END OF TIME.  Two events are offered on Tuesday, October 21st.  Attend a Workshop at LCC in the Admissions Center Room 143 from 2 – 3:30 p.m., or attend a Reading in the evening at the Longview Public Library in the Auditorium at 7 p.m.  The subject of the workshop is “Where you get your ideas and how to know when one is ready to become a story.”<span id="more-182"></span></p>
<p>Greg Bear is the author of more than thirty books of science fiction and fantasy, including CITY AT THE END OF TIME, QUANTICO, BLOOD MUSIC, THE FORGE OF GOD, DARWIN&#8217;S RADIO and MOVING MARS.  Awarded two Hugos and five Nebulas for his fiction, and one of two authors to win a Nebula in every category, Bear has been called the “Best working writer of hard science fiction” by The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Science Fiction. One of his most recent novels, QUANTICO, is a near future examination of law enforcement, politics and terror, both domestic and religious.  DARWIN&#8217;S RADIO and DARWIN&#8217;S CHILDREN (1999, 2003) form a sequence about viruses and human evolution.  His stories have been collected into an omnibus volume by Tor Books.  Bear has served on political and scientific committees and has advised the Microsoft Corporation, the U.S. Army, the CIA, Sandia National Laboratories, Callison Architecture, Inc., Homeland Security, and other groups and agencies.</p>
<p>Please join us as we meet and hear from this author who is widely regarded as one of the best imaginative writers of our time.  All events are free and open to the public.  Northwest Voices is funded by the Longview Public Library and Lower Columbia College, Friends of the LPL,  LPL Foundation, LCC Foundation, and, LCC’s ASLCC.</p>
